
Huskies Shine On Floor But Fall Just Short To No.34 Illinois

SEATTLE — Washington came up just short tonight, scoring a 194.400 in a narrow loss to No. 34 Illinois (194.475).
The GymDawgs opened the meet on vault, posting a 48.850. Mary McDonough led the way with a 9.825, matching her season-high and earning co-champ. Kira Bolden and Lilly Tubbs followed closely with matching 9.775s to tie for second overall, while Jessica Schaffer added a 9.750.
Washington moved to bars for the second rotation, recording a 47.250. Tubbs led the Huskies with a 9.850, highlighted by a stunning dismount and earning a second-place finish. Deiah Moody followed with a 9.825 to place third, while Olivia Oppegard posted a 9.775 to tie for fourth overall.
The Huskies found their rhythm on beam, earning a 49.025. Kristin Lin and Tubbs led the rotation with strong performances, each scoring a 9.825 to tie for second overall. Lana Navarro and Chelsea Hallinan followed with matching 9.800s to tie for fourth. Hallinan once again brought the energy with a memorable celebration, this time paying tribute to the Seahawks ahead of Sunday's Super Bowl match up. Moody rounded out the lineup with a 9.775.
Washington closed the night on its strongest rotation, floor, scoring a 49.275. This makes this the Huskies' third consecutive meet reaching that mark on the event. Caitlin McWilliams led the rotation with a career-high 9.925 to claim the floor event title. Bolden and Hallinan each posted career-high 9.850s, while Lin also matched that score, with all three tying for second overall. Schaffer rounded out the lineup with a 9.800.
Lin finished the night with a 38.500 in the all-around.
