Moll, Vacca Vault To Big Ten Weekly Honors
February 04, 2026 | Track & Field
SEATTLE – Washington's pole vault prowess was on display once again this week in the Dempsey, as Hana Moll flew to the highest clearance in the world this year, and Veronica Vacca notched the best mark by a freshman in the NCAA this season. Today those two were honored with Big Ten Athlete of the Week awards, with Moll taking Field Athlete of the Week and Vacca sharing Co-Freshman of the Week.
Moll, the 2024 NCAA Indoor Champion and 2025 NCAA Outdoor Champion and the NCAA Outdoor Record-holder, improved her No. 2 mark in NCAA indoor history, joining her sister Amanda as the only collegiate vaulters ever to make 16-feet. She made the bar cleanly on Saturday to become the ninth woman in world history to go 16-feet indoors, and now leads the NCAA by nearly a foot.
Vacca, from Plymouth Meeting, Pa., set a new career-best with a make of 14-6 1/4 to move up to 10th in the NCAA this season and sixth in UW history. It's the third-best mark by a Husky freshman after the Moll twins.
Washington currently has four women over 14-feet, with Amanda Moll making 14-6 1/4 in her season opener and Sara Borton with a season-best of 14-0 1/2. UW is No. 1 in the USTFCCCA Event Squad rankings for women's pole vault.
