
Washington Continues Home Stretch

SEATTLE – No. 12 Washington women's tennis continues the home stretch on Friday afternoon against Washington State and Sunday against No. 36 UC Santa Barbara.
Friday's match is set to start at 2 p.m. PT while Sunday's is at 11 a.m. PT at the Nordstrom Tennis Center. Washington State and UC Santa Barbara will also play a neutral match on Saturday at 1 p.m. PT. A live stream can be found on GoHuskies.com and live scoring on HuskyStats.com for all matches.
The Huskies enter the weekend with a 7-0 record. It is the best record to start the season since the Dawgs were also 7-0 in 2021.
DAWGS GETTING IT DONE ON ALL COURTS
Through the first seven matches, Washington is a combined 40-9 across all courts in singles and doubles. UW is unbeaten in matches on Courts 1 and 4 in singles action and Court 2 in doubles.
DOUBLE DAWGS
Washington has won all seven doubles points to start the season. It is the first time doing so since the 2021 season. The UW duos are a combined 14-2 in doubles action.
HUSKIES IN THE ITA RANKINGS
In the ITA individual rankings, the Dawgs have a season-high four singles ranked. Reece Carter leads the way coming in at No. 65 with a 6-0 overall record at No. 2 singles. Erika Matsuda is No. 72 at 4-1 on the season at the No. 1 singles spot. Marie Weissheim is No. 90 with a 6-0 dual record while Jermine Sherif rounds out the rankings at No. 124 with a 5-1 record and was named the Big Ten Player of the Week on Feb. 11. Matsuda and Carina Syrtveit are No. 81 in the doubles ranking.
The Huskies cracked the Top 15 in the team ranking, coming in at No. 12 on the Feb. 24 ranking. It is the highest team ranking since May 20, 2019 when the Dawgs finished the season ranked No. 10.
HOME SWEET HOME
Under head coach Robin Stephenson, the Huskies are 107-29 in Seattle since 2015. The Huskies have posted double-digit home wins in four of the last five season, combining for 53 victories over that time.
LAST TIME OUT
Washington had a pair of ranked wins last weekend as No. 33 Utah and No. 30 San Diego made its way to Seattle. The Dawgs opened the weekend with a 4-2 victory over the Utes and followed it up with a 4-0 win against the Toreros.
SCOUTING THE COUGARS
Washington State enters the weekend with a 6-3 overall record. The Cougars have won their last three matches which came against Montana State, Montana and Portland State.
WASHINGTON VS. WASHINGTON STATE HISTORY
Washington leads the all-time series versus Washington State, 59-13. The two teams met last season in Seattle with the Huskies coming away with a 6-1 victory. UW is on a four-match winning streak against the Cougars.
SCOUTING THE GAUCHOS
UC Santa Barbara enters the weekend with a 5-5 overall record and ranked 36th in the latest ITA team rankings. The Gauchos are 2-0 in Big West action. UCSB has faced four ranked opponents thus far and have compiled a 1-3 record against those teams. The lone win came on Feb. 7 against No. 33 Texas Tech, 4-3.
WASHINGTON VS. UC SANTA BARBARA HISTORY
Washington leads the all-time series against UC Santa Barbara, 3-0. The two programs last met in 2019 in Santa Barbara with the Huskies winning the match, 4-3.
