SEATTLE – No. 17 Washington women's tennis battled to a 4-2 victory over No. 33 Utah on Friday afternoon at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.

UW moves to 6-0 on the season as Utah drops to 6-2.

The Huskies jumped out to a 1-0 lead with their sixth double point of the season. Reece Carter and Jermine Sherif secured the first win in doubles with a 6-1 victory. The No. 1 doubles pair of 81st-ranked Erika Matsuda and Carina Syrtveit clinched the point with a 6-2 win.

Syrtveit earned her second win of the spring on Court 6 in straight-sets, 6-0, 6-2 to put Washington up 2-0.

No. 65 Carter added the third point for the Dawgs on Court 2. She battled with Emmie Moore, winning both sets 6-4, 6-4.

No. 90 Marie Weissheim had her second match clincher in a row, winning her contest in three sets. She won her first set 6-1 while Utah's Emma Valletta came back and won set two, 6-3. Weissheim came out on fire in the third set, winning 6-1.

Seventy-second-ranked Matsuda's match went abandoned in the third set. Matsuda was leading 4-6, 6-1, 4-2.

Utah won its matches on Courts 3 and 4. Alexia Jacobs fell in three sets, 6-1, 3-6, 2-6 while No. 124 Sherif went 1-6, 2-6.
