Kosakoff Named Big Ten Offensive Player Of The Week
September 16, 2025 | Men's Soccer
ROSEMONT, Ill. - Charlie Kosakoff claimed his first Big Ten Conference weekly award on Tuesday after powering Washington to its first Big Ten win on Friday night. The award is Washington's first conference weekly award of the season.
Kosakoff was pivotal in the Big Ten opener, scoring both goals to power the Huskies to a 2-1 win over Michigan State. It was Washington's No. 9 first collegiate brace and he nearly had more goals, with four shots in the contest, all of which were on target.
The scoring began in the 62nd minute when Connor Lofy lofted a ball up and over the defense to find Charlie Kosakoff. The Husky forward controlled the ball between two defenders and slotted it home to put Washington in front.
Six minutes later, Kosakoff doubled the lead. This time it was Alex Hall who set up the score, sending a ball up the right flank for Kosakoff who was charging at full speed. The San Diego native took a shot on his first touch, and the goalkeeper stood no chance.
Kosakoff has been an offensive leader for the Huskies this season, now the joint leader in goals (3) and game-winning goals (1), and pacing the team in shots (17) and shots on goal (7).
Kosakoff and the Huskies will look to build on their momentum on Tuesday night as they host Gonzaga for the final nonconference game of the regular season.
