
Kosakoff Bags Brace As Washington Defeats Michigan State 2-1

SEATTLE – Charlie Kosakoff scored both goals as the Huskies took down Michigan State in the first Big Ten game of the season on Friday night.
Washington moves to 1-0 in Big Ten play and 3-2-2 on the year. The Huskies are also unbeaten in their last five games.
Neither team found the back of the net in the first half, but the intensity was apparent from the first whistle. In total, there were 33 fouls between the two sides.
The scoring began in the 62nd minute when Connor Lofy lofted a ball up and over the defense to find Charlie Kosakoff. Washington's number nine controlled the ball between two defenders and slotted it home to put the Huskies in front.
Six minutes later, Kosakoff doubled the lead.
This time it was Alex Hall who set up the score, sending a ball up the right flank for Kosakoff who was charging at full speed. The San Diego native took a shot on his first touch, and the goalkeeper stood no chance.
Kosakoff now has three goals on the season, tied for the team lead.
Michigan State punched back, scoring in the 70th minute to make it a one goal game again, but Washington held on to secure the victory.
Despite the Spartans having one more shot than the Huskies, it was Washington who had more decisive chances. The hosts tallied seven shots on goal to Michigan States three.
Washington also forced four saves from the Spartan keeper and earned seven corners against MSU's four.
Kosakoff led the Husky attack with four shots, all of which were on goal in 67 minutes of action.
Defensively, Jadon Bowton made two key saves to preserve the victory.
Harrison Bertos, Egor Akulov, Zach Ramsey, Alex Hall, Joe Dale, Cameron Cruz, Connor Lofy, and Bowton each played the full 90 in Friday night.
The Huskies will look to make it three straight victories when they host Gonzaga on Tuesday night for the final nonconference clash of the season.
