June 20, 2025 | Track & Field
SEATTLE β Awards keep rolling in for Husky national champions Hana Moll and Nathan Green, as they were named USTFCCCA West Region Athletes of the Year today, with Associate Head Coach Toby Stevenson also earning West Region Women's Assistant Coach of the Year.
Β
Last Thursday at Oregon's Hayward Field, Moll won the NCAA Outdoor title in the pole vault, breaking the NCAA Outdoor Record in the process, and one day later, Green won the NCAA Outdoor 1,500-meters title for the second time. Moll and Green were both named Big Ten Conference Women's Field (Moll) and Men's Track (Green) Athletes of the Year earlier this week.
Β
Stevenson, in his seventh year at Washington, coached Hana and Amanda Moll to both set Collegiate Records in the pole vault this season β Hana at 4.79m (15-8Β½) to win the NCAA DI Outdoor Championships to break the Amanda's 4.78m (15-8ΒΌ) from the Big Ten Outdoor Championships. He also coached Sofia Cosculluela to First Team All-America honors in the heptathlon as his athletes accounted for 19 of the team's 31 points in finishing fourth.
Β
This is Stevenson's third West Region Assistant Coach of the Year honor at Washington, having previously won indoors in 2020 and 2023.
Β
Moll, the sophomore from Olympia, is the first Husky woman to win Outdoor West Region Field Athlete of the Year. She held off her top-ranked twin sister, Amanda, as well as 2024 NCAA Outdoor Champion Chloe Timberg in a hard-fought NCAA Outdoor battle. Hana clinched the win when she was the only woman to clear 15-0 3/4, and she also cleared 15-2 3/4 on a first attempt before moving the bar up to 15-8 1/2, just a quarter-inch above Amanda's NCAA Outdoor Record. On her third attempt, Hana got up and over, celebrating a new collegiate record which is also the third-highest outdoor clearance in the world this year.
Β
Green, the senior from Boise, Idaho, is the third Husky in the past four years to win Outdoor West Region Men's Track Athlete of the Year, after Joe Waskom won in 2022 and 2024. Green
reclaimed his 1,500m NCAA title after also taking the win in 2023. The four alternating titles between Green and Waskom make UW the first team since Villanova in 1968-71 to win the men's 1,500-meters four years in a row.
