
Huskies Topped By No. 5 Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Washington women's tennis team (17-3, 9-2 Big Ten) fell 4-1 to 5th-ranked Michigan Sunday morning on the Wolverines' home courts.
The Wolverines took the doubles point with wins on the second and third courts, 6-3 apiece.
No. 48 Alexia Jacobs and Reece Carter were amidst a battle with No. 23 Bernales/Jones on the top court as their match was abandoned at 5-5.
Michigan's top four courts were headlined by ranked players, including three in the top 50.
Jacobs faced a tough opponent in No. 41 Lily Jones on court three, as Jones won the first singles point for Michigan, 6-4, 6-1.
After dropping a first set 0-6 to the third-ranked Julia Fliegner on the top court, No. 95 Carter pushed in the second but ultimately fell 3-6.
Carina Syrtveit was the only Husky to pick up a win, besting Jessica Bernales, 6-2, 6-1 on court six right before the match was clinched on five with Reese Miller defeating Sophie Luescher, 6-1, 6-2.
Matsuda and McKenna Koenig's matches were abandoned in second sets as both Dawgs had dropped their first.
The last two regular season matches for the Huskies will be on home courts next weekend as Washington will first welcome Nebraska on Friday, April 18 at 1 p.m.
Washington will then honor seniors McKenna Koenig and Sophie Luescher on Senior Day against the Iowa Hawkeyes on Sunday at 3 p.m.
