
Rally Comes Up Short At No. 8 UCLA

LOS ANGELES – Washington made a late push in the seventh, but the Huskies fell 7-4 at No. 8 UCLA on Friday night at Easton Stadium.
UW moves to 29-10, 7-3 Big Ten on the season.
Eight Huskies recorded hits in the contest with Alexis DeBoer and Jadyn Glab leading the way with two each. Giselle Alvarez had three RBI while Ava Carroll reached base three times with a double and two walks.
Sophia Ramuno (7-4) got the start in the circle tossing her fourth complete game. She struck out three batters.
UCLA jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first on a grand slam by Megan Grant and two-run homer from Sofia Mujica.
Ramuno and the Husky defense retired nine consecutive batters before Grant hit her second home run of the game to take a 7-0 lead.
Down to the last three outs, Carroll walked while DeBoer and Glab followed with back-to-back hits to load the bases. Alycia Flores hit a sacrifice fly to left field to put UW on the board. Alvarez followed with a three-run home run to make it a three-run game. She has gone two consecutive games with a home run after her two-run shot against Wisconsin on Sunday.
The rally came to an end on a strikeout.
The Huskies and Bruins face off in game two of the series Saturday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. and airing on FS1.
