Third Straight Win For Huskies Over Boilermakers
April 11, 2025 | Men's Tennis
SEATTLE - The Huskies added to their winning streak today and took down No. 52 Purdue today in their third straight win.
The win comes after two home wins for Washington last weekend over Nebraska and Wisconsin.
The Dawgs started out strong in doubles, winning two out of the three matches of the round. This gave them a one-point advantage over the Boilermakers going into singles.
Rohan Belday ensured that the wins didn't stop there. He came out strong with the first win of the singles round and took his match over Mujtaba Ali-Khan 6-1, 6-2. Nedim Suko also won his match in two straight sets, coming out on top after a tiebreaker in the second set. He beat Stefan Simeunovic 6-2, 7-6 (6). This gave the Dawgs a 3-1 lead.
With one more win needed to clinch the match, Cesar Bouchelaghem stepped up his game in his third set. After an all around close match with the first two sets being determined by tiebreaks he took down his opponent 6-7, 7-6, 6-4.
The match resulted in a 4-2 win for the Dawgs and bumped up their record to 6-4 in Big Ten play.
Next up, the Huskies are back at it on the road on Sunday to take on No. 61 Indiana.
