Beach Dawgs Pick Up Two Wins In Honolulu

HONOLULU – The No. 17 Washington beach volleyball team delivered a dominant showing on the second day of the Queen's Cup Tournament, securing back-to-back 4-1 victories over No. 15 Hawai'i and Saint Mary's on Friday at Queen's Beach.
Washington (6-6) opened the day with a statement win over host Hawai'i, marking a key ranked victory. The Beach Dawgs won four of five matches, highlighted by a thrilling three-set battle on court one, where Teila Allen and Jade Sadeiko edged out the win, 23-21, 11-21, 15-13. Brooke Balue and Niki Egan controlled court three with a 21-10, 21-19 win, while Emma Hohenauer and Sarah Wilcock cruised to a 21-13, 21-15 victory on court four. The clinching point came on court five, as Alina Urzua and Hannah Doyle fought through a close match to win 21-17, 14-21, 16-14.
Carrying that momentum into the second match of the day, Washington posted another 4-1 win over Saint Mary's. Despite a narrow loss on court one, the Beach Dawgs dominated the rest of the lineup. Pantovic and L. Wilcock rebounded with a straight-set win on court two, while Balue and Egan battled back for a three-set victory on court three. Hohenauer and S. Wilcock controlled play on court four, winning 21-14, 21-11, and Doyle and Urzua capped off the sweep with a commanding 21-9, 21-11 win on court five.
