
Women's Basketball To Play In NCAA Tournament For First Time Since 2017

SEATTLE – For the first time since the 2016-17 season, the Washington women's basketball team will be making an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
During Sunday's selection show, the NCAA announced that Washington will be a No. 11 seed in the Big Dance and will play a First Four game against No. 11 seed Columbia (23-6, 13-1 Ivy) at 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 20.
UW is slotted in the Birmingham, Ala. region and will play the First Four game on the campus of No. 3 North Carolina.
The winner of the Washington/Columbia matchup will face No. 6 seed West Virginia in the first round on Saturday.
Thursday's game will be the first NCAA Tournament appearance for Washington under head coach Tina Langley. This is the 20th trip to the tournament for the Dawgs, who hold a 21-19 record all-time in the Big Dance.
