Huskies Post Strong Final Round To Close Out Amer Ari

WAIMEA, Hawaii – The Washington men's golf team wrapped up play today at the Amer Ari Invitational, finishing the third and final round in 14th place at the Mauna Lani Resort Golf Club.
"A much better day today," said head coach Alan Murray. "This is a really strong field, and we were outmatched in truth, but it was a step forward for us this week, and we responded in the final round."
Jack Murphy and Finn Koelle led the way for the Huskies, both tying for 37th on the leaderboard with a final score of eight under for the tournament. Koelle had an impressive, near bogey-free round of seven-under, which included an eagle on the seventh hole. Like Koelle, Murphy posted just one bogey on the day, carding six birdies for a five-under in round three.
"We have some positive things to take away from this tournament," Murray stated. "For example, Jack with another solid week and Finn starting to find some form."
Drew Warford finished tied for 83rd, shooting a 70 for round three and finishing at even par for the tournament. Brock Maulding ended up tied for 98th with a total score of four-over, shooting one-over in the final round. Abel Derksen bounced back with a three-under on the last day, ending the week at seven-over.
"We only dropped a total of 10 shots in the entire starting five in today's round, as opposed to 31 shots yesterday, which was frankly substandard," Murray commented. "We have a little break now before we go again in early March in Las Vegas."
