Syrtveit Tabbed Big Ten Freshman Of The Week

SEATTLE β Women's tennis first year Carina Syrtveit was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon.
This is the first conference honor for the freshman and the first Big Ten award for the Huskies since entering the league this season.
Syrtveit recorded a 3-1 record last weekend in two Husky wins over San Diego State and No. 29 San Diego. She went 2-0 in doubles play with McKenna Koenig as the pair clinched the doubles point in both victories.

The Oslo, Norway native finished 1-1 in singles over the weekend, defeating San Diego's Brionna Nguyen 6-2, 6-4 at No. 6.
Syrtveit is 6-2 so far at No. 6 singles and 5-0 at No. 3 doubles with Koenig.
The Huskies (7-1) moved up eight spots in the rankings to No. 18 this week, good for third in the Big Ten.
