Van Dyke Signs Contract Extension Through 2030 Season
December 22, 2025 | Women's Soccer
SEATTLE – Having led the Huskies to one of the greatest seasons in program history, Washington women's soccer head coach Nicole Van Dyke has signed a contract extension through the 2030 season.
"For my family and I, Washington is home," Van Dyke said. "I'm thrilled by the opportunity to continue to lead at a place this special and proud to represent this program, university, and community."
The unanimous 2025 Big Ten Coach of the Year, Van Dyke guided Washington to its third-ever NCAA Elite Eight appearance this season after UW claimed the Big Ten Regular Season and Tournament double. Washington became the first Big Ten program to win both the regular season and tournament titles outright since 2013, garnering UW's first conference championship in 25 years.
"2025 was a historic season for UW Women's Soccer," said Director of Athletics Pat Chun. "Coach Van Dyke is building one of the best soccer programs in the nation, and we are fortunate to have her as our leader."
The Huskies did some of their best work against the nation's top competition, posting a 6-1-2 record against ranked opponents. Overall, Washington's 15 wins in 2025 were the Huskies' most since 2014, while the eight conference wins are tied for the most in a single season in program history.
Much of UW's success on the pitch has been built through a tenacious, full-field defensive effort. The Huskies have posted 23 clean sheets over the last two seasons, setting the program record with 12 shutouts in 2025.
Overall, Van Dyke boasts a 60-32-27 record over six seasons on Montlake, leading Washington to three NCAA Tournament bids, including each of the last two seasons. Under Van Dyke, UW has advanced to at least the Sweet 16 twice, also accomplishing the feat during her first season in the spring of 2021.
"I'm grateful for the trust and belief placed in me by Director of Athletics Pat Chun and Senior Associate Athletic Director Nina Keaney, and excited about the future of women's soccer here at Washington," Van Dyke said. "The community we have here is unmatched, and this program is strengthened by incredible people in the department - coaches, staff, and administration - who show up every day to put our teams in a position to be successful."
Developing an exceptional level of talent, Van Dyke has coached 15 all-conference honorees during her six seasons at Washington. Of the seven United Soccer Coaches All-America selections in program history, three have come under Van Dyke's watch in Summer Yates (2020-21), Alex Buck (2025) and Kolo Suliafu (2025). This season, Buck and Suliafu became the first Husky teammates to be named All-Americans in the same season.
The success has extended to the next level, with 15 Huskies that have played under Van Dyke going on to sign professional contracts. Five of Van Dyke's disciples are currently on NWSL rosters in Shae Holmes and Olivia Van der Jagt (Seattle Reign), Olivia Sekany (Racing Louisville), Suliafu (Kansas City Current) and 2024 NWSL Champion Summer Yates (Orlando Pride).
Additionally, Van Dyke has seen her former Husky players sign professional contracts all over the world, including Canada, Mexico, Italy, Belgium, Portugal, Sweden and more.
"We've built something special, and as we continue to elevate this program, development and TEAM will always be at the heart of everything that we do," Van Dyke said. "The women in our program are an inspiration; they excel in the classroom, give back to the community, and represent the program with pride, passion, and purpose. Being a part of these women's lives and helping them achieve their goals is one of the greatest gifts of coaching, and to do that here at Washington, in Seattle, with Husky Nation behind us, is unbelievably rewarding."
With 163 career wins to her name, Van Dyke will begin her 20th season as a head coach in 2026.
