
Huskies Drop Regular Season Finale in Loss To UCLA

SEATTLE – Charlie Kosakoff and Osato Enabulele each netted a goal, but the Huskies ultimately fell to UCLA 4-2 on Friday night at Husky Soccer Stadium.
The Huskies conclude the regular season at 10-5-2 with a conference record of 7-3. Washington's 21 points in Big Ten play secure the No. 2 seed in the Big Ten Tournament which kicks off on Wednesday in Maryland.
The Bruins opened the scoring in the 35th minute, taking a 1-0 lead despite Washington having more offensive opportunities.
Only 90 seconds later, Charlie Kosakoff scored the equalizer to bring the Huskies right back into the match. Joe Dale played a perfect ball into Kosakoff in the box and he slotted it home.
Kosakoff extended his team lead for goals with his eighth. He now also paces the team in points with 20.
The 1-1 scoreline held into the halftime break. Five minutes after the second half begun, the Huskies took the lead.
Osato Enabulele controlled a pass from Kosakoff at the top of the Bruins' box. He then struck a perfect, curling shot to the far corner to send the Huskies in front.
It was the freshman's second career goal and Kosakoff's fourth assist of the year.
In the 52nd minute, the tide changed when Kosakoff was booked for a yellow card and was given a second yellow 10 minutes later.
Playing with 10 men, the Huskies battled to maintain the lead, but UCLA was able to capitalize on their man advantage. The Bruins scored three goals in the final 16 minutes of action to earn the win.
The Huskies were the superior team across the board statistically, tallying more shots (20-11), shots on goal (6-4), corners (7-4), and less fouls (11-16).
Despite the loss, Washington maintains its place as the No. 2 seed in the Big Ten Tournament. The semifinals will be played on Wednesday in Maryland with the championship game set for Sunday, November 16.
Washington and Michigan are set to kickoff on November 12 at 1 p.m. PT.
