Washington Adds Emil Herstad To 2025-26 Roster
November 21, 2025 | Men's Golf
SEATTLE – Washington men's golf head coach Alan Murray has announced the addition of Emil Herstad, who will join the Huskies in January.
Herstad makes his way to Montlake from Nittedal, Norway where he attended Wang Toppidrett Romerike.
"We are really looking forward to Emil coming on board," Murray said. "He is a really talented player and he works hard on his game. He has represented his country, Norway, at both junior and senior level and he has a good pedigree."
This past October, Herstad represented Norway at the Eisenhower Trophy in Singapore.
"Washington offered me a good schedule with a great team and facilities," Herstad said. "As well as the good coaches of Murray and (Chris) Babcock."
Herstad won the 2025 National Junior Strokeplay championship by seven strokes and was the 2023 National Junior Match Play championship. In July, he won the NextUp Invitational in a playoff, where he got to play alongside PGA Tour professional Viktor Hovland in the show match.
"He is a superb ball striker and he will adjust well to college golf," Murray added. "We have been really impressed by his calm, measured approach to the game combined with his work ethic. Emil is quiet at first but is a really funny, engaging kid. We have a pretty cohesive group this year and he will mesh well with the guys. He is competitive and driven."
While at Washington, Herstad plans to major in economics.
"He will add depth to our squad also and will be competitive right away," Murray concluded. "He wants to compete beyond college golf and we feel that he will continue to develop and improve during his time here."
