Tough Schedule To Offer Numerous Tests For Husky Men In 2026
November 20, 2025 | Men's Rowing
The Washington men's rowing team will face a series of challenges as it seeks to defend its National Championship this coming spring.
Today, the Huskies unveiled their competition schedule for 2026 and it's one that features a long list of quality opposition as Washington seeks the program's 22nd IRA National Championship next May.
The season opens in the traditional manner, with the 125th annual Class Day Regatta, March 21, on Montlake Cut. Class Day is an intrasquad event which matches crews from each class vs. one another.
The following weekend, the Husky men travel cross-country to Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Fla., for two days of high-level competition. On Friday, March 27, Washington takes on Harvard for the Bolles Cup. The following day, both of those crews will compete in the Sarasota Invitational for the Benderson Cup.
A week later, on April 4, the Huskies return to Montlake Cut for the Husky Open, during which Washington will take on Stanford for the Paup Cup. On April 11, the Dawgs will head south to Vancouver Lake in the Portland area, where they'll take on Oregon State.
This year, The Dual vs. California will be held on April 25 at Redwood Shores in the Bay Area, where the Huskies and Golden Bears will compete for the Schoch Cup in one of college rowing's oldest and greatest rivalries.
Every year, the first Saturday in March is the Opening Day of boating season in Seattle, and the day on which the Opening Day Regatta and the Windermere Cup come to Montlake Cut, in Seattle's best annual free community event. The invited crews that will face the UW in the 40th Windermere Cup will be revealed early next year.
The postseason gets underway with the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Championships, which will be held May 16-17 at Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif.
Two weeks later, the Dawgs will return to the familiar waters of Lake Natoma for the IRA National Championship Regatta. Last year, Washington swept all four heavyweight finals on Cooper River in New Jersey, and claimed the program's 21st Varsity Challenge Cup as National Champions.
