October 03, 2025 | Beach Volleyball
SEATTLE β Coming off the inaugural season in the MPSF, the Washington beach volleyball team returns to the sand this week at Alki Beach for the Alki Fall Classic, featuring Boise State, Oregon and Saint Mary's. Play begins at 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. The pairs tournament is the first of several fall events on the Huskies' schedule. For the complete Alki Fall Classic schedule, click here.
This season also marks the debut of head coach Steve McFadden, who takes over after three seasons as an assistant with the program. McFadden leads a roster that blends experience and youth, as Washington brings back 11 players from last year's squad and adds seven newcomers, six freshmen and one transfer.
This is the fourth year that fall play has been included in the NCAA beach volleyball calendar. While the spring remains the focal point for dual match competition, the fall provides developmental opportunities and features qualifying events for the AVCA Pairs National Championship, set for Nov. 7-9 in Huntsville, Ala.
The Alki Fall Classic is the first of three qualifiers for Washington this season. The Huskies will head to Manhattan Beach for the West Coast Championships Oct. 10-12, followed by the Surf City Collegiate Challenge in Huntington Beach, Calif., Oct. 25-26.
