January 03, 2025 | Men's Tennis
SEATTLE – With the start of dual play just a couple weeks away, Head Coach Rahim Esmail has added a new recruit set to contribute right away. Stéphane Kamendje, hailing from Montreal, Canada, is ready to start his collegiate career with the Dawgs this winter quarter.
"We are excited to have Stéphane join our program," said Esmail. "Stéphane has a lot of upside with a lot of athletic ability. We are excited for Stéphane to make an immediate positive impact on our team."
Kamendje has a career-high ITF Junior World Ranking of 118. He won two junior tournaments in 2023 in Japan and his hometown Montreal, and reached two more semifinals. He won the Lac Saint-Louis region division AAA twice and qualified for nationals. Kamendje participated in the Mundialito in Spain representing Canada in 2017.
Kamendje regularly ran into current Husky freshman Rohan Belday on the junior circuit, winning three out of five meetings with his new fellow Dawg.
He attended College Saine Anne de Lachine and the Academie des Estacade.
