September 24, 2024 | Women's Tennis
CARY, N.C. -- New Husky junior Reece Carter lost a marathon match today at the ITA All-American Championships in North Carolina, winning the first set but then falling short in consecutive tiebreakers to end her singles run. Carter will team up with Alexia Jacobs and play in the main draw of the doubles championship starting tomorrow.
Carter had picked up a ranked win in her Husky debut on Monday and was looking for another against No. 104 Ashton Bowers of Texas, but Bowers held off Carter to get the win and advance to the main draw of the singles tourney.
Tomorrow, Carter and Jacobs will face the No. 1 overall seeds in doubles, an Oklahoma State duo, in a match scheduled for 3 p.m. Pacific time. Jacobs, meanwhile, will open her singles season in the main draw first round. The sophomore will face Theodora Rabman of UNC at 11:30 a.m.
