
Brooke Nelson Named NFCA All-American

SEATTLE – Washington softball's Brooke Nelson was named a 2024 First Team All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), the organization announced today.
Nelson, a graduate student from Bonney Lake, Wash., is the 36th Husky All-American (65 total All-American honors). Washington has had an all-american honoree in eight straight seasons dating back to 2016 – and in 13 of the last 14 seasons.
She is one of three Pac-12 student-athletes on the first team, joining UCLA's Maya Brady and Stanford's NiJaree Canady.
This season, Nelson has also been named to first team all-conference and all-region teams.
Nelson led the team during the regular season with a .350 batting average, 12 home runs, six doubles and 34 RBI. She was fifth in the conference with a .726 slugging percentage and a .442 on base percentage. Nelson was one of the toughest to strikeout, with only nine in the regular season in 117 at bats.
Nelson also threw 32.2 innings in the circle with a 1.93 ERA, 34 strikeouts and a 5-1 overall record. She threw her first career no-hitter this season against Loyola Chicago at the South Florida Showdown.
In the field, Nelson registered a .996 fielding percentage with 213 putouts. She also assisted with turning 11 double plays.
In her career, Nelson appeared in 132 games making 88 starts. She holds a career .308 average with 64 hits, nine doubles, 15 home runs and 53 RBI.
