
Dawgs Advance To Pac-12 Quarterfinal With Win Over Washington State

OJAI, Calif. – The Washington women's tennis team took down Washington State 4-1 Wednesday afternoon in the first round of the Pac-12 tournament at Weil Tennis Academy in Ojai, Calif.
The Dawgs will advance to the Pac-12 quarterfinal on Thursday, April 25 to take on the third-seeded USC Trojans at Weil Tennis Academy. Action will kick off around 6 p.m.
The Dawgs gave up the doubles point with losses on courts 2 and 3 but fought for every single point in singles to take down the Cougars in three straight singles matches.
No. 99 Alexia Jacobs was the first to finish with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over WSU's Tse to notch her 15th singles win of the season.
Dariya Detkovskaya gave the Huskies their first lead of the afternoon with a 6-3, 6-1 win on court 6.
No. 105 Astrid Olsen took Nakagawa to three sets to give the Huskies a more comfortable 3-1 lead and improve Olsen to 16-5 in singles on the season.
The dagger and clincher came from Erika Matsuda on the Dawgs' top court, securing a tough battle over Washington State's Alvarez Sande, 7-6, 7-5.
