
No. 2-Ranked UW Women Headed To San Diego Crew Classic

The Washington women's rowing team heads south to the San Diego Crew Classic this Saturday and Sunday, April 6-7.

Washington, ranked No. 2 in the most recent Pocock CRCA poll, will send its "Pac-12 lineup" of crews, meaning the same five boat categories that will compete at Pac-12 Championships later this season: the first, second and third varsity eights, the varsity four and a novice eight. Those five crews will row in each of these events:

The field for this year's Crew Classic includes two other teams currently ranked in the top-10: No. 4 Texas and No. 7 California.

Last season, Washington won the Laurel Korholz (novice 8+) and raced in the final in the other four events. The Huskies also won the Korholz in 2022. The Huskies won the Karen Plumleigh Cortney Cup and the Carley Copley Cup in 2019 (the 2020 and 2021 regattas were both canceled), but before that had not competed in San Diego since 2014.

Following this weekend, the UW women will have two weeks to prepare for the 2024 UW-Cal Dual, which will be held April 22, at Redwood Shores in the Bay Area.
