Huskies Exit Big Ten Tournament In Semifinal Round
November 07, 2024 | Women's Soccer
ST. LOUIS – The Washington women's soccer team fell behind just under three minutes into Thursday's Big Ten Tournament Semifinal clash with No. 8 UCLA and were unable to climb out of the hole, falling 2-0 at CITYPARK.
The Bruins posted a 20-2 advantage on shots, putting eight on goal.
After an early corner kick, the Huskies were unable to clear a service from the wing, allowing the ball to bounce before being flicked by a UCLA attacker, off of UW defender Kolo Suliafu's leg and into the net.
Down a goal early, the Dawgs were forced to throw numbers forward and UCLA capitalized on the counter, doubling the lead through Ayo Oke's point blank flick past Mia Hamant.
The Bruins continued to control the pace of play into the second half and UW was unable to secure hold of the ball, bowing out in the semifinal round.
Washington will await its fate during Monday's NCAA Selection Show, set to stream on NCAA.com at 1 p.m. PT
