
Huskies Drop First Road Game To Montana, 82-68

MISSOULA, Mont. – The Washington women's basketball team (4-1, 0-0 Big Ten) faced their first loss of the season inside Dahlberg Arena on Sunday to the Montana Lady Griz (2-2, 0-0 Big Sky), 82-68.
Sayvia Sellers led the Dawgs with a career-high 22 points on 75 percent shooting (9-of-12), her third career 20+ point game and second straight. She has hit double figures in four of her last five games.
Dalayah Daniels was the Huskies' only other double-digit scorer Sunday, finishing with 13 points, three rebounds, and two assists.
Elle Ladine toyed with another double-double with nine points and seven rebounds.
Montana outscored UW 22-10 in the opening quarter but Washington shot 50 percent (9-of-18) in the second as seven Huskies scored and won the quarter 23-20.
Washington got going offensively to close out the half, with the Dawgs connecting on seven of their final nine shots of the first 20 minutes of action.
Daniels, Sellers, and Ladine each had seven points by halftime as Washington trailed at the end of two quarters for the first time this season, 42-33.
A 6-0 Washington run in the opening minutes of the third cut Montana's lead to three, 44-41 thanks to an and-one opportunity by Daniels, who had six of her 13 points in the third.
Tayra Eke got a layup to go at the third quarter buzzer to cut the Lady Griz's lead to 58-49. The senior finished with eight points, two rebounds, two blocks, and a steal.
UW pulled down 18 rebounds on the offensive end, the most by the team since Nov. 18, 2023, vs. Seattle U last season.
The Huskies will return home to Seattle for back-to-back afternoon games next week. Washington will face Cal State Fullerton on Thursday, Nov. 21 and Friday, Nov. 22, both at noon, at Alaska Airlines Arena.
