UW Menโs Golf Signs One Local, One International On NSD

SEATTLE โย Washington head men's golf coach Alan Murray announced the addition of two future Huskies on Friday as part of National Signing Day in local prep Grady Millar and Australian International Vidur Subramaniam.

"We are really excited about both these guys becoming Washington Huskies," Murray said. "They will come in and compete for starting spots right away and add both quality and depth to our roster. Both guys are similar in terms of playing pretty aggressively and are really fun to watch. They have a lot of quality and have had a lot of success."

A four-time district champion out of Mountain View High School, Millar has also been named the Class 3A Greater St. Helens League Boys Golfer of the Year and was tabbed by The Columbian as All-Region Boys Golfer of the Year a year ago.

Having taken up the sport of golf at just three years old, Millar has racked up numerous top amateur performances in his career, including a second place finish at the 2022 Pacific Northwest PGA Junior Championships.

"Grady has been and is one of the top juniors in the PNW and knows what it means to wear purple," Murray said. "He has a big heart and will be a great teammate to go along with his ability on the links. Grady is a big, strong boy and knows how to play the game. Exciting times are ahead for him."

A top international prospect out of Sydney, Australia, Subramaniam will come to Montlake with an impressive record of his own, including an 11-shot win of the 90-hole Harvey Norman Sydney Week of Golf tournament earlier in 2024. Subramaniam went on to finish 11th out of hundreds of golfers across 11 different countries at the all-age Austrailain Men's Amateur Championship.

Like Millar, Subramaniam picked up a club for the first time at just three years old and over the proceeding 14 years, has developed his game to be able to compete with grown men on the course. Shortly after his Sydney Week of Golf title, the Hills Grammar School product finished 11th out of hundreds of golfers across 11 different countries at the all-age Austrailain Men's Amateur Championship.

"Vidur is one of the best juniors in Australia and has an infectious energy," said Murray. "He has a lot of game and is really ambitious. He is very creative and can flight the ball extremely well based on playing firm fast golf courses in the wind Down Under. He is a great scrambler and loves competition."

The pair will add to a youthful Husky roster ahead of the 2025-26 season.

"Both Grady and Vidur have a lot of quality and have had a lot of success," Murray said. "Both of these guys are ideal teammates and team members."
