Huskies Punch NCAA Ticket, Head To Oklahoma

SEATTLE – Selection Monday was a rewarding day for the Husky women's tennis team. For the second year in a row, the Huskies had their name called, and they will be headed to Norman, Okla. for the first two rounds of the NCAA Women's Tennis Championships. Washington gathered in the Conibear Shellhouse to view the unveiling of the bracket on NCAA.com.
Washington received an at-large bid to the 64-team tournament after going 17-8 during the season, and finishing tied for fourth in the Pac-12 regular season, then reaching the Pac-12 tournament semifinals last weekend.
The Dawgs will be opening up tournament play against Arkansas out of the SEC. First serve in that first round battle will be 10 a.m. Pacific time. The other side of the Norman group includes the host Sooners, the No. 13 overall seed in the tournament, and Hawaii, champions of the Big West. The second round match will take place on Saturday, May 6, starting at 11 a.m. Pacific.
This will be the fourth trip to the NCAA Championships for the Huskies under Head Coach Robin Stephenson, and the first back-to-back appearances for UW since 2010-11. It is the 17th NCAA Championship appearance all-time for the Dawgs. Last year, the Huskies fell in the first round, but the team was missing several starters at that point in the season. UW will look for its first tourney win since 2019, when the Huskies reached the Round of 16.
Each four-team First & Second Round grouping will send one winner into the Super Regional round (Round of 16) where eight teams will host one more match. Those eight winners will advance to the final championship site, which this year will be at the USTA National Campus in Orland, Fla. The final three rounds take place from May 17-20.
