
Husky Trio Named To WBSC USA Softball National Team Roster

OKLAHOMA CITY – Ali Aguilar, Sis Bates and Baylee Klingler will represent the Red, White and Blue this summer at the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) World Cup in Dublin, Ireland July 11-15, the U.S. Women's National Team announced on Friday.
Aguilar played for the Huskies from 2014-17 where she was a three-time First Team All-Pac-12 selection and two-time NFCA All-American. During her time at UW, Aguilar batted .367 with 58 home runs and 210 RBI. She won a silver medal with Team USA at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo and has been on the senior team since 2017. Aguilar plays professionally with USSSA Pride in the Women's Professional Fastpitch league.
Bates is the Huskies' all-time hits leader with 320 over her Washington career. She is also the second player in Pac-12 softball history to earn three Defensive Player of the Year awards. Bates joined Team USA at the Pan American Championships where they won gold. Bates currently plays professionally with Athletes Unlimited.
Klingler, the reigning Pac-12 Player of the Year and Triple Crown winner, batted .434 with 24 home runs and 71 RBI on her way to being a finalist for USA Softball Player of the Year. This season, Klingler is averaging .405 with 36 RBI and 47 hits. Klingler joined the Red, White and Blue twice last summer at the Canada Cup and Japan All-Star Series.
Heather Tarr will enter her second stint as head coach for Team USA. Last summer, Tarr led the U.S. to three gold medals. She is in her 19th season as head coach for the Huskies where she is the winningest coach in Washington athletics history.
