SEATTLE – The No. 22 softball team (34-13, 15-4 Big Ten) dropped its fourth straight Big Ten game and was handed its first loss this year at Husky Softball Stadium Friday night, falling to No. 7 UCLA 5-7.

Ava Carroll led the Dawgs as the only player with multiple hits, delivering a pair of singles.

After being down 0-4, including giving up three home runs in the first four innings, Mila Reddy delivered the first dagger for the Huskies in the bottom of the fifth, sending her first career home run to center field to put the Huskies on the board.

A Bruin RBI double in the top of the sixth pushed the UCLA lead back up to four runs.

Jadyn Glab led off the top of the sixth inning with a single to shallow right field, followed by Gabi Toney getting hit by a pitch and a Mila Reddy walk to load the bases.

Up to the plate with a full house, Sophi Mazzola delivered a clutch three-RBI double to give Washington a glimmer of hope, cutting the UW deficit to one, 4-5.

Kaycie Burdick followed with a double of her own, bringing in Mazzola with a run that tied the game at 5-5, but the freshman was out trying to reach third.

A two-run home run by the Bruins in the top of the seventh polished off the night for UCLA, who had two players hit multiple home runs.

Game two of the series will begin Saturday, April 25 at 3 p.m. at Husky Softball Stadium and will be aired on the Big Ten Network.
