Boyd Finishes Seventh At Season's Opening Event
September 25, 2022 | Women's Golf
NASHVILLE, Tenn. β Washington junior Camille Boyd opened up the 2022-23 women's golf season with a seventh-place finish at the Mason Rudolph Championship.
Β
Boyd finished under par in all three rounds at the Vanderbilt Legends Club, carding a 1-under 71 on Friday before posting back-to-back scores of 70 Saturday and Sunday. Her 5-under 211 tied her for seventh with one other golfer, four shots behind the tournament medalist.
Β
As a team, Washington finished the three days in 13th place. On the final day, senior and No. 1 starter Brittany Kwon had to withdraw after three holes due to injury.
Β
"It was a tough day for us today," said head coach Mary Lou Mulflur. "We just could not overcome the absence of Brittany. We're disappointed, but we will bounce back."
Β
After Boyd, the Huskies' next finisher was senior Winnie Ng, who finished the three rounds at 8-over, good for a tie for 41st. Next was freshman Carmen Lim, who was 14-over and tied for 65th. Jamie Hsieh was tied for 70th, with a 17-over par total.
Β
Next for the Huskies is a trip to Chicago, where they'll play in the Windy City Classic, Oct. 3-4, in suburban Highland Park, Ill.
