May 24, 2022 | Baseball
SEATTLE - With the inaugural Pac-12 Baseball Tournament set to begin tomorrow, the Pac-12 has announced their All-Conference honors for 2022 featuring three Washington Husky players. Players receiving All-Conference recognition include right-handed pitcher Stefan Raeth, first baseman Will Simpson, and catcher Johnny Tincher. In addition, Tincher has also been named to the All-Defensive team.
On the mound, Redshirt Junior Stefan Raeth out of Lafayette, CA dominated all season long with a 3.23 ERA over 64 innings. He led the team with a 5-4 record, a WHIP of 1.11, and Saves with four (tied). In addition, he finished fourth in the Pac-12 with 86 strikeouts. Most of his appearances were in relief, though he did start two games as well.
Redshirt Sophomore Will Simpson from Sammamish, WA had a strong year offensively. He finished the regular season leading the team in most offensive categories, including OPS (.888), Runs (42), Doubles (15), Home Runs (11), RBIs (43), TBs (111), SLG% (.524), and Walks (24).
Redshirt Sophomore Johnny Tincher from Sylmar, CA made things happen all season long, both in the batters box and behind the dish. His .316 batting average and .400 on-base percentage led the team, plus he finished in the top three in OPS (.316), Hits (62), Doubles (13), Home Runs (5), RBIs (34), TBs (92), and SLG% (.469). His 24 strikeouts were the lowest on the team among regular starters (at least two plate appearances in 75% of the games played). Behind the dish he was just as impressive with a .991 fielding percentage. He was a human highlight reel all season long knocking down balls in the dirt and laying out for circus catches.
