SEATTLE -- Looking to pick right up where they left off a full two weeks prior, the 20th-ranked Husky women's tennis team heads to Eugene this Sunday to battle the 45th-ranked Oregon Ducks in a big Pac-12 match-up for both teams. The Huskies (13-4, 4-0 Pac-12) are aiming for a fifth-straight conference win but have been off since Mar. 13 for winter quarter finals. First serve between the Huskies and Ducks at the Student Tennis Center will be at 11 a.m.
Oregon is 10-5 on the season and 2-3 in Pac-12 play, but has won its past two, upsetting No. 25 Arizona State, 4-3, and then beating Washington State, 5-2, on Friday. Sophie Luescher is 8-6 at the No. 1 singles spot, while Karin Young is 12-1 in dual play from 4-6 singles.
The Huskies stayed ranked in the ITA top-20 for the third-straight poll this week, coming in at No. 20. UW has won six-straight matches, including the past four in conference, with 4-3 wins at Arizona State and Arizona, then a 4-0 home win over Utah and a 6-1 home win over Colorado. Two Dawgs have put together lengthy win streaks in singles: Nika Zupancic has won six-straight and Sarah-Maude Fortin has won her past five.
From Eugene, the Huskies will continue on the Pac-12 road to Los Angeles to face USC and UCLA, before returning home on Apr. 8 to host Stanford.
