GymDawgs Post 196.900 In Senior Night Win

SEATTLE, Wash.ย โ The Washington gymnastics team posted a 196.900 to win the dual meet against San Jose State. In the senior night celebration, the GymDawgs came out strong, winning the vault, beam, and floor events.ย

"To see their resiliency and their grit, it was amazing," said head coach Jen Llewellyn. "It was so nice to come out tonight and celebrate the seniors."

To start things off on vault, Geneva Thompson posted a 9.900 to tie asย the event win. Fellow senior, Amara Cunningham followed closely behind with a 9.875.

On bars, Lauren Thomas scored a career-high 9.850. Skylar Killough-Wilhelm scored a 9.900 to take second place on the event.ย

"Lauren [Thomas] has been working really hard on those details," said Llewellyn. "So to see it pay off was awesome."

Killough-Wilhelm and Brenna Brooks both scored a 9.925 on beam to be the co-event winners. The 9.925 from Brooks is a new career high for the senior.ย

"Brenna [Brooks] leading us off on beam and getting the score it deserved was amazing," said Llewellyn. "So great for her on senior night, too."
ย
Finally, on floor, it was Cunnginham who scored 9.925 to come in first.ย
ย
Next, the Huskies are heading to Salt Lake City, Utah for the Pac-12 Championships on Saturday, March 19.ย

"This is great for our confidence going into Pac-12's," said Llewellyn. "Now we just need to continue doing what we have done in the last couple meets."
