Washington Scores 196.400 At Pac-12 Championships

West Valley City, Utah--ย The Washington gymnastics team posted a 196.400 in the first session of the Pac-12 Gymnastics Championships. Their score placed them second behind UCLA's 198.150 in session one. Overall, the Huskies came in 6thย place.ย

Utah came in first with a 198.000. In second, was Cal who scored a 197.425. A 197.250 from Oregon State landed them in third. UCLA placed fourth with a 196.950 followed by ASU in fifth with a 196.675.

Washington beat Stanford for a third time this season and Arizona for the second time. Arizona placed 7thย with a 196.375 and Stanford finished 8thย with a 196.000.

The Huskies were able to finish strong on beam with five gymnasts scoring a 9.800 or higher. Skylar Killough-Wilhelm was Washington's high scorer on the event with a 9.900.

On bars, both Morgan Bowles and Geneva Thompson posted a solid score of 9.825 to help the GymDawgs.ย

A 9.875 from Amara Cunningham on vault, in the anchorย position, gave Washington momentum for the rest of the meet.

On floor, Kennedi Davis and Cunningham both scored a 9.850 to be the high scorers on the event for the Dawgs.

"I am just so proud of them," said head coach Jen Llewellyn. "We had some last-minute substitutions, so it took so much complete teamwork. Everyone was all in to get the job done."

The well-rounded Washington squad was able to put a full meet together through their well-balanced lineups and consistency throughout each event.ย
ย
"We hit 24 for 24 routines tonight which is huge," said Llewellyn. "Everyone showed up and did their job. Each person did something amazing today and made it the day it was."
