Washington Celebrates Black History Month

SEATTLE – Washington celebrates Black History Month. The campaign honors Black culture, educates about the Black experience at the UW, and provides opportunities to connect and engage. Throughout the month, Washington Athletics will host several events and student-athletes will celebrate mentors, role models and heroes with a series of open letters, photo galleries, quotes and videos.
Adidas has developed custom basketball uniforms in honor of Black History Month. The Washington women's basketball team will wear the uniforms on Feb. 11 against USC. The men's basketball team will be wearing the uniforms on Feb. 26 in the Boeing Apple Cup game against Washington State.
The Black Student-Athlete Alliance (BSAA) will host an alumni social on Feb. 8 to connect and learn about experiences as a Black student-athlete at the UW.
On Feb. 12, Washington Athletics is hosting a Black History Month gathering with the Black Staff and Coaches Group, UW Black Staff Affinity Group and the Black Faculty Group. This group will be honored at halftime of the men's basketball game against Arizona.
