Washington Hosts Women-Only Networking Event

SEATTLE – The University of Washington organized a female-only networking event in November in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Title IX.
The Mighty are the Women Networking Night included over 60 women from various professional backgrounds who engaged and connected with student-athletes preparing for professional life. Eight UW teams attended the event including student-athletes from softball, women's basketball, women's soccer and rowing.
"The Title IX Networking Event was an admirable night," said softball fifth year Madison Huskey. "To be in a room full of women leaders was inspiring. I am continually shown by the University of Washington that there is space for not only women, but women of color in all kinds of fields. I'm so thankful for Tyee for putting this incredible night together and building community for us athletes who are transitioning out of our athletic careers."
The night began with remarks from Washington Director of Athletics Jen Cohen, UW women's basketball alums Elise Woodward and Ingrid Russell Narcisse and Carter Subaru's Jen Moran. After the kick-off student-athletes were provided an opportunity to seek out and network with professionals in a variety of fields.
