November 15, 2022 | General, Student-Athlete Academic Services
SEATTLE – University of Washington Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA) posted a Graduation Success Rate (GSR) of 91 in the NCAA's most recent report released Tuesday. The GSR measures the four-year cohort that includes classes from 2012-2015.
"Our student-athletes are exceptional and continue to shine in the classroom," said Director of Athletics, Jennifer Cohen. "The GSR is a testament to their effort and dedication, and I continue to be impressed and inspired by them. I am grateful for our coaches and academic services staff, led by Kim Durand, who passionately partner with students and ensure they have the resources needed to strive for academic success. We truly value academic excellence, and I am so proud of everyone involved with achieving this score."
Eight women's programs finished with scores at or above 90, led by perfect scores for Women's Basketball, Women's Golf, Gymnastics, Women's Tennis and Volleyball. Women's golf has recorded a perfect score in each of the years since the GSR launch in 1998.
In addition, Men's Soccer posted a score of 90, which is an all-time high for the sport. On Monday, Men's Soccer was selected as the No. 2 seed in the 2022 NCAA Soccer Tournament.

ABOUT THE NCAA's GRADUATION SUCCESS RATE:
The NCAA Graduation Success Rate (GSR) is designed to show the proportion of student-athletes on any given team who earn a college degree. The NCAA has imposed a new set of academic standards that seeks to hold teams and institutions accountable for how well a student-athlete progresses toward a degree.
The GSR was developed in response to colleges and universities who asked for an alternative rate that more accurately reflects the movement among college student-athletes. The GSR takes into account incoming transfers who graduate from a different institution than the one they started at and transfers who leave an institution in good standing.
