Hussen Signs Contract With Professional Club In Iceland

Former Washington midfielder Ameera Hussen has signed a professional contract to play for ÍBV, a club that plays in Iceland's top division.
Hussen, from Federal Way, Wash., played five seasons at Washington (2017-21), earning first-team All-Pac-12, as well as second-team all-region, following the 2021 spring season. In five years at UW, Hussen appeared in 84 matches, starting 50. She totaled 10 goals and seven assists during her college career.
ÍBV, a sports club that includes men's and women's soccer and handball teams, is located in Vestmannaeyjar, an island community located off the southern coast of the Icelandic mainland. The women's soccer team began play in 1993, and first made it to the top division in 1996.
Vestmannaeyjar has played in top division since 2011, won the Icelandic Cup in 2004 and 2017, and earned the Icelandic Super Cup in 2012. In recent seasons, the roster has included several American players. The 2022 season gets underway in April.
