SEATTLE -- While the illustrious college career of Dylan Teves has come to an end, the Husky superstar isn't going far, as he officially signed a Homegrown Player contract with the Seattle Sounders of Major League Soccer, the club announced on Tuesday.
A native of Kailua, Hawaii, Teves came up through the Sounders Academy and played for Seattle Sounders FC 2 before arriving at Washington.
"Dylan has done so much for Husky Soccer, and I am excited to now see him take the next step in his career," UW head coach Jamie Clark said. "He has the mindset and ability to make it at the next level, and I am so happy the Sounders have decided to invest in his future. His legend will remain at UW, but now to write new chapters as a professional. Go make it happen Dylan!"
Teves recently wrapped up arguably the greatest individual season in Washington history. He become the first UW player to be named a finalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy, was named First Team All-America by both United Soccer Coaches and College Soccer News, Best XI First Team and No. 2 Player in the Country by TopDrawerSoccer, All-Pac-12 First Team, National Scholar Player of the Year by College Soccer News and Pac-12 Scholar Athlete of the Year.
He collected 32 points on 12 goals and 8 assists, including back-to-back hat tricks in the NCAA Tournament and is believed to be the first player to ever accomplish that feat.
