UW Women Open Fall At Burnaby Lake Small Boat Invitational
September 29, 2021 | Women's Rowing
The Washington women's rowing team opens the 2021-22 season with a trip to British Columbia where, this Sunday, they'll participate in the 10th annual Burnaby Lake Small Boat Invitational.
The regatta, held on Burnaby Lake, just east of Vancouver, B.C., is a 4,000-meter head race, featuring 18 race categories made up of singles, doubles and pairs. Upon completion of the 4K-race, the top finishers in each category race a 250-meter sprint to determine final places. See regatta overview link at top-right of this page for more information.
All of Washington's entries will be in the women's senior pairs, which begins at 11:30 a.m. PT. The top finishers in that race will then compete in the sprint at 2:02 p.m. PT.
The Washington women wrapped up the 2021 season with a thrilling, three-way tie (on points) for first place at the NCAA Championships in Sarasota, Fla., where the tie-breaker gave Washington a third-place overall finish. The Huskies also won their fourth straight Pac-12 Championship last spring.
Following this Sunday's action at Burnaby Lake, the UW will wait more than month before competing at the annual Head of the Lake Regatta in Seattle, Sunday, Nov. 7. The UW women will also compete the following Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Head of the Lagoon in Foster City, Calif.
