Meek Named Pac-12 Player of the Week
August 30, 2021 | Men's Soccer
SEATTLE -- After putting up five points in just two matches, Lucas Meek has been named the first Pac-12 Player of the Week for the 2021 season. This is the first career Pac-12 weekly honor for Meek.
In Thursday night's season opener, Meek picked up an assist on Dylan Teves' golden goal in double overtime to defeat UC Davis. Meek made a far post run up the right side and headed down a cross towards the net that Teves would finish off.
On Sunday, Meek would have a match to remember, tying his career high with four points. For the second consecutive match, Meek picked up an assist on the game-winning goal, this time bombing down the left side of the pitch before putting in a perfect low cross for Nick Scardina to tap in. Meek would find the back of the net for the first time this season in the 80th minute, taking possession of a loose ball and going up the right side, before chipping the goalkeeper. He then picked up another assist three minutes later on UW's fourth goal of the match. It was the first time in his career that Meek had multiple assists and was the second time he put up four points, the other being last season when he had a brace against Gonzaga.
Meek's five points on opening weekend rank first in the Pac-12, as do his three assists, which are also tied for the most in the country.
