July 30, 2021 | Men's Golf
Both CT Pan (Chinese Taipei) and Carl Yuan (China) were marching up the leaderboard at the Tokyo Olympics before lightning halted action for a second time at Kasumigaseki Country Club, leaving the former Huskies among five groups of players yet to complete their second rounds.
Pan caught fire on Friday and was 4-under through 15 holes before action was halted. Yuan was 2-under after 15.
Overall, Yuan sits higher up on the leaderboard and entered the clubhouse tied for 20th at 4-under overall. Pan rebounded from a 3-over first round and is in the red at 1-under, good for a tie at 39th. Both will complete their rounds first thing Saturday morning, Tokyo time.
American Xander Schauffele set the pace carding a 8-under 63 on Friday. He sits in the gold medal spot at 11-under for the tournament. Mexico's Carlos Ortiz is second at 10-under and four golfers are tied at the bronze medal position at 8-under.
The tournament is four rounds with action completing Sunday in Japan.
