
Huskies Win Fourth-Straight, 4-0, Over Gonzaga

SPOKANE, Wash. – Husky women's tennis ran its winning streak to four today with a 4-0 road win over Gonzaga at the Stevens Center. The Dawgs will now have a quick turnaround in order to get back to Seattle to host Washington State in the regular season home finale on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
Washington (13-6, 4-5 Pac-12) took the doubles point and then three singles wins to secure the victory over the Bulldogs (11-6) and abandon the remaining three singles matches. Junior Zoey Weil was the clincher, saving a couple set points in the second set and getting into a tiebreak, which she won, 7-4, after winning the first set, 6-0, over Jenna Sloan.
48th-ranked senior Vanessa Wong had a decisive 6-2, 6-0 win over Kate Ketels in the No. 1 singles spot for the first point of singles play. Then junior Nika Zupancic improved to 3-0 since her return to action with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 4 over Haruna Tsuruta.
Freshmen Sarah-Maude Fortin and Tara Chilton both won their first sets, with Fortin leading 5-4 and Chilton down 4-5 in the second sets at the time of Weil's win. Sedona Gallagher lost her first set but won the second and was early in her third.
Wong and Fortin got a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles and Chilton and Zupancic clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win at the No. 3 spot.
Friday will be the second Boeing Apple Cup Series showdown with WSU this season, and the final match of Pac-12 play as well.
