Reynolds Named Pac-12 Player Of The Week
March 09, 2021 | Softball
SAN FRANCISCO - For the second time in her career, Sami Reynolds has been named the Pac-12 Player of the Week. Reynolds is the second Husky to earn a weekly award from the Pac-12 this year, joining Gabbie Plain, who has earned three Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week awards this year.
Last week, Reynolds hit .727/.692/1.364, driving in multiple runs in every game. The 11 RBI in three games by Reynolds were the most by any Husky in a three-game stretch since Kirstyn Thomas had 13 in early 2018. Reynolds had multiple hits, run, and RBI in all three games and went 3-for-3 on the basepaths, including her third career multi-steal game.
Reynolds is the 11th Husky to earn multiple Player of the Week awards from the Pac-12 in their career and the first since Thomas and Julia DePonte, who each won two. She is the sixth Husky to earn Player of the Week awards in multiple years: the last to do was Morgan Stuart, who earned the award in both 2008 and 2009.
Reynolds was not the only Husky to earn an award from the Pac-12 this week, as Plain earned her third Pitcher of the Week award of the season as well.
This week, the Huskies return home for their first games at Husky Softball Stadium since the 2019 Super Regionals. Washington will host Seattle U and Portland State in the Husky Classic, which will begin Friday, March 12. Every game will be streamed live and for free on the Washington live stream.
