Ostrem Named Pac-12 Player Of The Week
March 08, 2021 | Men's Soccer
SAN FRANCISCO - After leading the Huskies to another Pac-12 win last weekend, Charlie Ostrem has been named the Player of the Week by the Pac-12 Conference. This is the first weekly honor of Ostrem's career.
Last week, Ostrem was a part of two goals for the Huskies, scoring their first against San Diego State and earning the assist on the game-tying goal with 59 seconds left to play. It was the first multi-point game of Ostrem's career. Ostrem has now doubled his career point total in the last two games.
Ostrem is the first Husky to earn Player of the Week since Blake Bodily did so twice during the 2019 season. He is the first defender to do so since Taylor Peay, who earned the award twice in 2013. Ostrem is the seventh defender in Washington history to earn Pac-12 Player of the Week.
This year, Ostrem has played all but 27 possible minutes for the Huskies, playing every minute in four straight games. He has started each of Washington's last 26 games, stretching back to the 2018 season. He was the only Husky to start every game in 2019 and is one of seven to start all five games so far this year.
Washington is back in action this Wednesday, hosting Seattle U as the two teams face off for the WAC 101 Club Cup. Washington will have a road games this week as well, playing UCLA on Sunday.
