Huskies Wrap Up Weekend Sweep With 11-3 Win
March 06, 2021 | Softball
HONOLULU โ The #8 Washington Huskies finished a clean sweep of the weekend, defeating the Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine 11-3. The power bats of Noelle Hee and Sami Reynolds led the way: Hee had her second career multi-homer game, while Reynolds homered and drove in five.
Washington has now scored in double digits in three of its last four games, winning three of those games by run rule. The Huskies move to 16-2 on the season with the win.
Hee, Reynolds, and Sis Bates would combined to go 10-for-12, with Bates a perfect 4-for-4. Bates tripled in the game, tying her with Ashley Charters and Becky Newbry for the Washington record, giving her 16 career triples. Bates would score after every one of her hits.
The Huskies had an all-staff game in the circle. Sarah Willis started the night, throwing 1.0 inning and ceding the circle after a single and walk in the second. Brooke Nelson took over and threw 2.2 innings, recording a season-high five strikeouts without allowing a run.
Gabbie Plain had her 25.2-inning scoreless streak come to a close in the game as Hawai'i managed a solo home run against the Aussie ace, but would not allow another hit in her 3.1 innings. She would end the day with six strikeouts and only two baserunners allowed. It was Plain's seventh appearance this year allowing one or fewer hits.
