Huskies Move To First Place In Pac-12 With 1-0 Win
March 20, 2021 | Men's Soccer
SEATTLE – A chippy, contentious game went the way of the #6 Washington Huskies, who defeated the #2 Stanford Cardinal 1-0 on a late goal by Dylan Teves. The game was scoreless until the 85th minute, when Teves scored his fifth goal of the season to put the Huskies up for good.
Charlie Ostrem assisted on Teves' goal. In the last five games, that duo have combined for five goals and three assists, with all of those games Husky wins.
Washington is 7-1-0 overall and 4-1-0 in Pac-12 play, moving the Huskies into a tie for first place in the conference along with Stanford and Oregon State. The Huskies have won five straight games after today's win, with four of those games shutouts.
In goal, Sam Fowler had his fifth shutout of the season. The sophomore made five saves, including four in the second half. Fowler came up big late too, making a save in the 89th minute on Stanford's final attacking opportunity to close the door on any possible comeback.
