February 08, 2021 | Gymnastics
SEATTLE – The Washington GymDawgs put up a season-high score in their home opener, posting a score of 194.050 against Oregon State. Geneva Thompson earned the event titles in all-around and bars in the Pac-12 opener for Washington.
The two event titles are Thompson's first career event titles on all-around and bars. It is also the first time in her career that she won two events in the same meet.
Amara Cunningham earned the event title on floor with a score of 9.900, the second floor title of her career. She also won floor last year against Boise State. On vault, Cunningham had a 9.825, the highest score on that event for the GymDawgs.
Isa Weiss and Cathy Eksteen became the sixth and seventh GymDawgs to make their collegiate debut. Weiss competed on vault for Washington, while Eksteen competed on beam.
Washington will stay in Seattle next week, hosting UCLA on February 14. That meet will be streamed on the Pac-12 Network.
