Huskies Improve Against #4 Utah
January 30, 2021 | Gymnastics
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Washington GymDawgs finished their second road meet of the season with a score of 193.300 against the #4 Utah Utes. Amara Cunningham led the way for the GymDawgs with scores of 9.850 on vault and 9.875 on floor.
Geneva Thompson, Katie McNamara, and Skylar Killough-Wilhelm each competed on all-around for the GymDawgs. McNamara and Killough-Wilhelm are the first pair of freshmen to both compete on all-around in the same meet since 2000. Only once in that time frame have two freshmen competed on all-around in the same season: Janae Janik and Alexandra Yacalis in 2014.
In addition to McNamara, Killough-Wilhelm, and Lauren Thomas, Gabi Wickman made her collegiate debut, making it four freshmen competing tonight for the GymDawgs. This was the first time since 2014 that at least four freshmen have competed in the same meet for the GymDawgs.
Washington will return to Seattle for its home opener next week, hosting Oregon State on February 8. That meet will be streamed on the Pac-12 Network.
